Temple Moor High School Case Study, with Dawn Simpson and Mark Chester

Temple Moor High School, part of the Red Kite Learning Trust in East Leeds, is a thriving secondary school with a strong focus on operational excellence and student safeguarding. Like many colleges and schools, Temple Moor wanted to improve its communication systems, not only to make lockdown and invacuation procedures clearer but also to streamline everyday operations across a busy, multi-building site.

After hearing positive feedback from a neighbouring school, Temple Moor’s leadership team invited Audiebant to explore how our education communication solutions could enhance their emergency response and day-to-day efficiency.

“It meets all of our needs for invacuation and lockdown but it’s just so much more than that as well.”

The Challenge

The team, led by Business & Operations Manager Dawn Simpson and Premises Manager Mark Chester, identified several critical challenges:

Alert Differentiation

Staff and students struggled to distinguish between different alerts, especially when it came to lockdown vs evacuation procedures.

“The main issue was distinguishing between evacuation and lockdown. We realised we needed a system in place that could clearly define the two — for both staff and students.” – Mark Chester, Premises Manager

Lack of Flexibility

The existing system did not support targeted or mobile-triggered messages, limiting the speed of emergency response.

Cost Effectiveness

Any new system needed to deliver maximum safeguarding value without exceeding budget.

Day-to-Day Functionality

The school needed a multi-functional communication system that could support everything from routine lesson transitions to urgent staff notifications.

The Solution

Audiebant worked closely with Temple Moor to design and install a tailored education safeguarding and communication system.

The solution paired plug-and-play audio hardware with the Audiebant mobile app, enabling staff to trigger instant alerts and announcements across the campus from any authorised device.

Key Features of the System:

“I like the fact that we’ve got the app. All the senior leaders and premises team have it on their phones, so they can trigger alerts from anywhere in the building.” – Dawn Simpson, Business and Operations Manager

The Outcome

The impact at Temple Moor High School has been significant, improving both emergency preparedness and operational communication:

Clarity and Confidence

Staff and students now instantly recognise the difference between a lockdown and an evacuation, removing uncertainty during drills and real incidents.

Faster Response Times

The ability to trigger alerts remotely has transformed incident response, giving leaders greater peace of mind.

“It gives us that peace of mind. It’s simple to use and gives everyone confidence.” – Mark Chester, Premises Manager

Day-to-Day Benefits

Beyond emergencies, the system streamlines lesson transitions, assemblies and site-wide announcements.

“When we do drills now, it’s much clearer to everybody what they’re supposed to be doing and where they’re supposed to be going.” – Dawn Simpson, Business and Operations Manager

Value for Money

With safeguarding at the centre, the solution has also proven highly cost-effective, providing multi-functional mass communication tools without exceeding budget.

Why It Works

Audiebant’s systems are designed specifically for education safeguarding and college communication.

They are intuitive, scalable, and require minimal training, helping schools like Temple Moor work smarter, react faster and keep both staff and students safe.

"We heard about Audiebant from a local school just down the road who had them in and were really impressed with the product."
